Bon autant dire, j'attendais depuis longtemps d'écouter ce troisième véritable album des Hollandais d'Epica surtout après le post de Mark, le chanteur guitariste d'Epica sur le forum.
Juste pour vous rappeler ce post de Mark, je l'ai copié à la fin. Ce sont les premiers avis sur ce nouvel opus. (bien plus intéressant que le mien).

Donc ca y est, je l'ai, je peux enfin l'écouter. Je suis heureux. HAAAAAAA Smile

Passons à l'écoute.

Bon il n'y a pas à dire, Simone est passée à un stade supérieur. Sa voix est bien plus posée. On n'a plus l'impression qu'elle force sur sa voix. C'est vraiment une réussite sur ce point la. Les aigus de Simone sont bien plus posées et accessibles. Le timbre de sa voix reste tout autant beau.

L'album est bien plus rythmé, le changement de batteur a fait du bien au groupe. C'est aussi un album plus "black" avec le chant de Mark plus souvent. Les guitares sont aussi mises en avant. Par contre l'orchestration m'a juste parfois un peu déplu notamment lorsqu'il s'agit de clavier. Les choeurs sont encore présents, et renforcent les voix de Simone et aussi de Mark. Les deux voix, Mark et Simone, s'enchainent vraiment bien sur les morceaux. Je préfere tout de même lorsque celui-ci ne va pas dans l'aigu avec ses grunts.

Chansons qui m'ont marqué: Chasing the dragon où Simone utilise toute les capacités de sa voix, Fools of Damnation où la composition est complexe, j'adore et c'est très "black" comme titre.

Bon ma chronique n'est qu'une première ébauche. Une écoute plus appronfondie et un peu plus d'objectivité serait nécessaire. Je réediterai ce post.
